About The Region:
Our Grade 1 Kontiki is from the Junin area in the Central Highlands of Peru, an area known for its high-altitude farms and volcanic soils. It’s home to the Chanchamayo Valley, recognised for its unique coffees. The area has consistent rainfall and cool temperatures that slows cherry maturation, perfect for developing complex, full flavours.
Kontiki is from a group of small, family owned farms who process the cherries and take the parchment into the Perales Huancaruna dry mill for final processing.
MCM refers to Machine Cleaned Mejorado. The literal translation is Machine Cleaned Improved meaning the preparation and processing is of a particularly high grade which is normally associated with Grade 1 beans.
